En el adjunto tenemos la convocatoria de un congreso en México sobre literatura caballeresca. Nos ha encontrado esta convocatoria José Ramón Trujillo.

Y, finalmente, contaros que la semana pasada me llamaron de la cadena SER, para hacerme una entrevista de temas artúricos para su programa «A vivir que son dos días». Se transmitió el sábado pasado 5 de octubre. Después me enviaron un enlace para poder escucharlo. Aquí lo tenéis. Se pudo escuchar en toda España pues era un programa de cobertura nacional.

I have attached a call for papers for a conference that will take place in Mexico City. It will be on knighthood literature. José Ramón Trujillo found it.

And finally, I have something to tell you too. Last week Cadena SER, a Spanish national radio station, called me. They wanted to make me an interview on Arthurian matters for their show «A vivir que son dos días». It was broadcast last Saturday October 5. Later on they sent me a link where it can be heard. Here you have it. People could listen to it all around Spain. It was national coverage.

1. Congreso en México

Hola a todos:

Hoy tengo que contaron una cosa nueva. No sé si habéis visitado recientemente la nueva página de la Asociación Artúrica Internacional (www.internationalarthuriansociety.com). En ella podéis encontrar información sobre la nueva revista que está promocionando la Asociación (JIAS): www.internationalarthuriansociety.com/publications/view/journal-of-the-international-arthurian-society.

Hace algún tiempo contactaron conmigo para ofrecerme estar en el comité editorial (ved adjunto). Acepté. Nunca lo había plasmado en ningún sitio, pero acabo de entrar en dicha página y he visto que, de verdad, está ahí mi nombre. Espero, desde esa posición, poder promocionar los estudios artúricos ibéricos e iberoamericanos y vuestros originales de dicha temática en un futuro.

Además me han pedido que escriba un artículo sobre el estado actual de los estudios artúricos ibéricos. Espero para ello contar con la ayuda de todos vosotros, empezando por la puesta al día de vuestros currículos de Clytiar. En el artículo, junto a mí nombre quiero poner el de Clytiar en el encabezamiento del artículo. Que sea algo de todos.

I have something else to tell you today. You may have recently visited the new page of the International Arthurian Society (www.internationalarthuriansociety.com). There it is possible to consult full information about the new publication that the Society is promoting (JIAS): www.internationalarthuriansociety.com/publications/view/journal-of-the-international-arthurian-society.

Some time ago, the promoters contacted me for inclusion in the editorial board (see attachment). I agreed. However, I had not ever seen it anywhere. But I have just visited that page and I have seen that they have really included my name. From that position, I hope that I can promote the Iberian and Iberian American Arthurian Studies and your contributions related to the matter in future times.

They have also asked me to write an articles giving an account of present-day state of Iberian Arthuriana. I hope that you can help me, beginning with the updating of your Clytiar CVs. I also what the article to carry, next to my name, the name of clytiar on the first page. Something to share.

With reference to Alma’s question.
I have not come across the sentence that Alma quotes, but there was (?is) a Welsh goddess named Rhiannon who had three magical birds whose singing could allegedly heal the sick and bring the dead to life.
In Cornish legend King Arthur returns in the form of a bird (a red-legged chough).
I think there are many legends of dying heroes taking the form of birds to fly off to the next world. For example the dying Japanese hero Yamato Takeru takes the form of a great white bird on his flight to the paradise of the West.
As for birds collecting dead knights, this seems very like the airborne Valkyrie taking dead warriors to Valhalla …

La primera consulta me recuerda al papel del buitre como portador de lo muertos al más allá en los antiguos rituales funerarios íberos y celtas. Puede que la tradición haya pasado al mundo artúrico desde su propio trasfondo legendario celta. Adjunto un interesante artículo al respecto.
[The first question reminds me of the role of the vulture as the one reponsible for carrying the dead to the afterlife in the ancient Iberian and Celtic funarary rites. This tradition may have been inherited by the Arthurian world due to its own Celtic background. I have attached an interesting article on this subject matter]
